Court denies bail to SP MLA

Additional Sessions Judge Shashikant Upadhaya today rejected the bail application moved by the MLA and sent him to jail, official sources said.

The MLA from Shahganj (reserved) seat had earlier got interim bail from the Allahabad High Court which ended today. He had applied for full bail which was rejected by the court, the sources said.

The MLA had a dispute with local lawyer Prashant Pankaj here on June 26 last year after which the lawyer had filed a case accusing the MLA of loot and attacking him.

Sonekar was recently given Samajwadi Party ticket from Machchlishahr reserved seat for next year's Assembly elections but it was later cancelled.
