Among those who qualified from Bangalore was Aditya P Gaonkar, who secured the 151st rank in the prestigious examination.

Speaking at a felicitation programme organised by BASE, he said that a combination of hard work and yoga did the trick for him.

“Besides the training I was getting, I did yoga and pranayama in the mornings which helped me concentrate better,” he said. With research in Quantum physics being his ultimate goal in life, Aditya is planning to pursue electrical or mechanical engineering in either IIT Chennai or Kanpur.

For Deepak Narayanan, who secured the 229th rank, cracking the IIT came as an added bonus as he has already been accepted into the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

“Deepak worked consistently throughout the year. The last three months were extremely stressful, but he sailed  through in the end,” said Geeta, Deepak’s mother.

Like Deepak and Aditya, Aishwarya Padmakumar also succeeded by securing the 241st rank. “I concentrated on core concepts and focused on the teachings in coaching institute which helped me in both the board exams and the IIT JEE.” Aishwarya now wants to pursue electrical engineering from IIT Chennai.

An elated Akshay Krishna, who bagged the 275th rank, has been selected to represent the country in Poland in the International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics. He said: “I attended classes regularly and revised the concepts and fundamentals.” He added: “I enjoyed the process of studying and one should always love what they are studying and not just for the sake of cracking an exam.

Ace Creative Learning Director Dr G Sridhar said: “Our institution has succeeded in helping 34 students crack the IIT JEE this year. Our primary aim is to ensure that the basic concepts are understood by the students before they move on to the harder chapters”.

This year, nearly 4.6 lakh candidates appeared in JEE 2011 which was conducted by the IITs. Of these, 13,602 candidates have been declared qualified to seek admission for 9,618 seats available in 15 premier institutions including IITs and ISM Dhanbad.
