Ten arrested in separate cases of cheating, forgery

K Gopi (28) from K R Puram allegedly created fake documents and claimed compensation of Rs 1.86 crore for three acres of land at Singalli village (survey no 6), which was acquired for the Bengaluru International Airport project by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

The original owner of the land, Kodandarama, registered a complaint with the Halasur Gate police. The police arrested Gopi and seized Rs 52 lakh, a DD for Rs 15.25 lakh and records pertaining to a site measuring 30X40 ft worth nearly Rs 15 lakh.

In another case, Ratnamma (58) of Yelahanka, Nagarajaiah (32) and Basant Kumar (31) of Mahalakshmipuram, and Lokesh Kumar (31) and Praveen Kumar (32) of Rajajinagar were arrested for creating fake records and selling one acre of land belonging to Lakshmamma of Lottegollahalli.   

While Ratnamma impersonated as Lakshmamma, the four claimed to be her relatives and sold the land to B B Patil and others for Rs five crore, which was credited to the account they opened in Lakshmamma’s name in the Malleswaram branch of Bank of India.
The Sanjaynagar police registered a case and seized Rs five lakh, a DD for Rs five lakh and a car worth Rs three lakh. The other suspects - Anjappa, Madhusudhan Gupta and Appaji - are absconding, police said.

Loan in fake SHGs’ name

Four persons have been arrested for allegedly creating fake records of 32 benami women’s self-help groups and availing loans to the tune of Rs 1.56 crore from the Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural and Ramanagar District Co-operative Bank Limited in Chamarajpet.

The Central Police arrested field supervisor of the bank K N Swamy Gowda (43), incharge manager of the bank’s Kanakapura branch H Krishna (47), N Narasimhe Gowda (42), former president of Vyavasaya Seva Sahakara Sangha Niyamita (VSSSN) at T Hosahalli in Kanakapura taluk and its suspended secretary/manager G D Chinnagiriyappa (55). An amount of Rs 63 lakh and home appliances worth Rs two lakh were seized from them.
Another suspect, B K Puttaswamaiah (50), manager of the loan section in the bank’s head office, is absconding, police said.

Killed for ‘harassing girl’

A 28-year-old man was allegedly murdered for ‘harassing a girl’ Thursday night.
The Banaswadi police said Naveen, the girl’s brother and his associate William had warned Praveen, son of Chinnappa, not to harass the girl. When he did not pay heed, they killed him, said the police.

Friends robbed

In another incident, two persons were robbed of their valuables at knifepoint near Cariappa Road on Friday.

Prakash, the complainant, said: “I and my friend (Vinay) were standing at the Banashankari bus stand when a car stopped by us and people inside dragged us into the vehicle.”

He said they were brought to Cariappa Road and two persons in the vehicle snatched a mobile phone and Rs 2,150 from them.

Duplicate gadgets seized

The Enforcers of Intellectual Property Rights (EIPR) with the help of police raided three outlets selling duplicate electronic gadgets of a famous brand in the City recently.

The EIPR and Kalasipalyam police raided R Sons Automobiles on J C Road, seized duplicate electronic gadgets of Lucas and arrested Mamoon Rasheed (38). They are looking out for the owner of the outlet, whose identity is yet to be ascertained. The police also raided A S Traders on J C  Road and seized the duplicate products.  

In another incident, the EIPR staff and Byatarayanapura police raided Balaji Motors on 100 Feet Ring Road on Mysore Road and confiscated duplicate gadgets. Khala (18), an employee was arrested, while the owner Babulal Patel is absconding.
