Same family, different country

Produced by Leslee Udwin (BAFTA and multi-award winner) and written by Ayub Khan-Din (BAFTA nominated), the film stars Om Puri (BAFTA nominated), Linda Bassett, Ila Arun, Jimi Mistry, Vijay Raaz and introduces Aqib Khan. Fresh from the Indian box office success of Hollywood film ‘Source Code’, 52 Weeks Entertainment Inc is distributing the film in India.
‘West is West’ features the same family in a different country with a lot more baggage. Set five years on from ‘East Is East’, the sequel takes the Khan family on a journey from Salford, England to rural Pakistan. The trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have composed music for the film. ‘East is East’ won upwards of 36 international awards (including the BAFTA, Indian Film Festival Award, and Special Prize at Cannes where it played to a standing ovation in official selection of Director’s Fortnight). Loved by audiences around the world, this has been a dazzling cross-over British film, which has also become something of a classic. It has even been adapted into a book and is part of the academic curriculum of some European schools.
