“Promoting junior golf is similar to the motto that we follow at Toyota,” said its India Head of Marketing, Ramesh RK, on the sidelines of the Southern India Junior Championship at the Karnataka Golf Association.

“At Toyota, we believe in grooming youngsters step by step and prepare them meticulously for bigger challenges. This is what we want to do here. Development of sport at the grassroot level is very important.

“Golf is set to make its debut at the 2016 Olympics. We will be proud if we can nurture a champion.

“That is our primary goal and we will do everything within our efforts to reach it. A lot of junior golfers have tasted international success in the last 2-3 years and I am confident it will only get better,” added Ramesh.

Complimenting Toyota for their support, Indian Golf Union council member and vice-chairman of Ladies section Madhavi Reddy Mathani said the car manufacturer’s tie-up had injected fresh life into the tour.

“It is with the support of such organisations that aspiring youngsters have a platform to improve and compete regularly at the international level. We hope this drives many teenagers to take up the game and pursue it professionally.”

Toyota inked a three-year deal renewable on an yearly basis with the IGU last season for the sponsorship of junior golf.
