Another Congress leader calls Baba Ramdev a fraud

Last Updated 06 June 2011, 14:29 IST

"Baba Ramdev is not a saint, but a dhongi and is doing politics in saffron robes," Hariprasad, who arrived here to take part in a protest against the recent hike in the power tariff and deteriorating law and order situation in the state, told reporters.

Justifying the police crackdown on Baba Ramdev's satyagraha against corruption and black money, he alleged that the BJP and some Hindu organisations were trying to take political advantage out of the situation.

When asked whether BJP's move would pose a threat to Congress, he said that communal forces had gathered under one umbrella in the past as well, but did not affect Congress' fortunes as people were aware of everything.

"Black money is not just today's problem. What was NDA doing during its six-year long regime in the country on this issue," he said.

Hariprasad alleged that all these powers were trying to destabilise the central government, but they will not succeed in their designs.

Union Minister for Tribal Welfare and Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee President, Kantilal Bhuria said on the occasion that the State Congress Committee will be announced this month only and denied reports that there are differences in the party on the issue.
