Koppa rain damage may go up to Rs 100 crore: Cong leader

Congress inspection team held a visit to all the rain and erosion affected areas on Wednesday. Addressing the reporters, Murthy said that government officials have not estimated the damages effectively.

“They have skipped areca, coffee and other crops while estimating damages,” he said and added that MLA, MP and District-in-Charge Minister have not responded to the problems of the people in the region.

The team was led by Jayaprakash Hegde who said that State Government can take steps to prevent erosion in Seetha river, without waiting for funds from Central government. Dredging of river banks, construction of retaining wall must be taken up immediately as precautionary measures. The team had leaders Sabhapathi, Ramesh Kumar and Govindaraj among others.

The team will prepare a report and submit it to KPCC President and next action will be taken up as per the direction of KPCC president.

The team visited Basarikatte, Channakallu, Sathukudige, Hulugaradi, Hosalli, Kondibail, Kelangadi, Muthugodi to inspect and assess the damaged occurred due to landslide and erosion. Congress leaders A S Nagesh, H M Nataraj, H G Venkatesh, N L Nagabhushan, H M Sathish, C Radha, Julian Fernandes, D B Rajendra, H S Kalappa, Nikhil Hosamane, D S Sathish, Holagar Sridhar, Kelakoppa Sathish, Sheshanna Gowda, B M Sudesh, Shahsikumar among others were present.
