State receives bountiful rain

North, central and coastal regions record moderate to heavy rainfall

Meanwhile, Hosanagar taluk in Shimoga district recorded the highest average rainfall of 51.6 mm, while Yadur received 58 mm rainfall. The rainfall in Hulikal was 48 mm, 18.2 mm in Teerthahalli and 39.4 mm in Agumbe.

Shimoga received a rainfall of 10.2 mm, while Sagar and Soraba taluks received six mm of rainfall, Bhadravati three mm and Shikaripur 1.2 mm.
 
In Davangere

Rain has receded in the district, recording an average of 0.6 mm till Monday morning. No damages have been reported. Meanwhile, Harihar taluk and some parts of Harapanahalli taluk received good rain by Monday afternoon. Village residents in Haluvagalu, Nittur and Garbhagudi in Harapanahalli taluk said that the region had received the highest rainfall in the last five years.

Rain havoc continues in DK

Rains continued to lash Dakshina Kannada (DK) and Udupi districts on Monday. Sea erosion intensified in Ullal due to the rain. Sea water entered a few houses close to the shore at Mukkachery.

Two trees were uprooted on Arya Samaj Road in Mangalore, while the compound walls of two houses were damaged due to rain at Jokatte in the City.

The playground at Bharati High School of Ullal was inundated in rainwater. Bantwal received the highest rainfall of 108 mm in the last 24 hours, followed by Sullia (62.4 mm), Moodbidri (56.4 mm), Belthangady (53 mm) and Mangalore (30.2 mm).

Udupi received moderate rainfall on Monday. A house collapsed at Gundmi Sasthana in the wee hours of Monday. The loss is estimated at Rs 75,000. Karkala taluk received the highest rainfall of 72.8 mm, followed by Udupi taluk (34 mm) and Kundapur taluk (11.2 mm).

Hubli

There was drizzling in the north Karnataka districts of Dharwad, Bijapur, Haveri, Gadag and the coastal district of Uttara Kannada on Monday.

Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district recorded the highest rainfall of 57 mm.
