Palike to review building plans

Following the demolition of ramp of the Mantri Square Mall, Bangalore Chapter of CREDAI, had alleged the Corporators were extorting money from the developers.

Deputy Mayor Harish, who chaired the meeting, said the corporators have been planning to take a relook at the previously approved building plans of various developers, especially malls that come under the CREDAI.

“There have been allegations of wrong doing during the  administrator’s rule. We will study these allegations in detail,” said Harish. Alleging that the Corporators are being targeted by Mantri Developers, Leader of the Opposition Uday Shankar said the Developers, who had sought political favours earlier, have opposed the Palike’s move to act in the interest of public.

JD(S) leader Padmanabha Reddy has asked builders to list out specific instances wherein corporators have demanded money. “Let the builders give names of those harassing them,” he said.

Admitting that there might be a few ‘rotten apples’ among the corporators, Reddy asked the CREDAI to file complaints against those who allegedly tried to extort money from them. “I ask the CREDAI members to apologise to the people for making such irresponsible statements,” he said. Meanwhile, the Mantri Developers have sought protection by the City police, in the wake of a possible law and order problem.
