AMD gaining market share in Karnataka

Last Updated 09 June 2011, 16:08 IST

“Karnataka is one of the places where we have a good market share -in excess of 20 per cent,” said AMD India Director for Transaction Business P Raghuraman.
“There’s a similar number in discrete graphics sales, suggesting that people here go for PCs if there is value for money and no compromise on technology.

That’s why our approach for the last two quarters has been to emphasise on user experience rather than technology or branding,” he added.

Rather than selling more compute power or superior technology, AMD offers PCs to the requirements of the users. Given the “price difference” they enjoy over rivals Intel, PCs tailored to user requirements results in substantially reduced hardware cost, the company claimed.

For Karnataka, AMD has targeted around 400 channel partners, 150 of whom have now become  part of our 'smart channel' programme,” Raghuraman revealed, adding that the company has adopted the “5E approach” — Engage, Excite, Educate, Encourage and Enrich.
