Chennammanakere Achuchukattu police arrested Nagaraju (27), Ramanjaneyalu (32), Anil Kumar (23), Radhakrishna (26) and K B Santosh Kumar (27).

They recovered an airgun, a laptop, a knife, a four-wheeler, a bike and seven cellphones, said DCP (South) Sonia Narang.

Tenali Ghosh married Barkathullah Baig from Shivajinagar and changed her name as Ayesha Baig. Soon, she parted ways with him, married Manish, who is an employee of EV Communications, a BPO firm, at BSK third stage and changed her name as Sonia Ghosh. Santosh Kumar was an employee in the firm.

Two years ago, Johnson from Tamil Nadu had placed an order for Rs 13 lakh with the firm for a content translation. A few months ago, Baig accidentally came to the firm and noticed Tenali with Manish.

He extorted Rs three lakh from the couple. Santosh, who witnessed the happenings, suspected that manish was moneyed, and hatched an abduction conspiracy with others to abduct Manish for ransom.

Leaving his job last week after telling Manish he had got a better offer in Hyderabad, Santosh joined his associates. They abducted Manish and kept him at Bettada Mane resort at Chikkaballapur on Tuesday. They called up Sonia and directed her to arrange Rs five lakh to free Manish.

Sonia lodged a complaint with the police immediately. A police team led by police inspector Babu Noronha left for Chikkaballpur to rescue Manish.

On the advice of police, Sonia asked the suspects to meet her at the firm office to collect the ransom.

“We intercepted a bike and a four-wheeler near PES College. We noticed the suspects travelling in the four-wheeler along with Manish. We stopped the vehicles, arrested the suspects and rescued Manish,” said the police inspector.

Four held for flesh trade

The CCB investigators busted a flesh trade racket on Wednesday, by arresting Priya Shukla (23), Shwetha Kapoor (21), Manoj Kumar (19) and Aryan Singh (22).

Manoj and Singh solicited customers for the girls, police said. The police raided a flat in the first floor in Green Field Apartment in Rhenius Street in Richmond Town, arrested the suspects and recovered Rs 6,000 and six cellphones.

They are looking for Ravi and Babloo, who rented the flat, brought girls from Mumbai and Delhi for prostitution and collected Rs 10,000 to 15,000 from each customer.
