Leopard spotting triggers panic

According to a local residing nearby the farm, he spotted a leopard chasing a dog in the thick of darkness. He soon informed police control room. The police personnel passed on the information received, to the local patrolling wing.

The Police Control Room (PCR) 100 vehicle rushed to the spot. Forest personnel who had also received the information by then, arrived.

They launched a search operation, but to no avail. The operation was resumed on Friday early hours.

According to forest officers, there may be chances of leopard sighting, for the reporting of leopard attack on cattle, at the foot of Chamundi Hill close to the farm.

A city which had just witnessed the rampage of wild jumbos two days ago has become used to man-animal conflict. There have been many occasions when the public members sighted leopards in around the Chamundi hill region. It could be recalled that a leopard was killed by furious mob about two years ago near Jockey quarters in city, when it strayed into the suburb from the Chamundi hill region.
