Twenty-five-year-old Alai Muruga allegedly hanged himself after his parents advised him not to marry a girl with whom he was in love. The girl belonged to a different community and his parents were against the marriage, police said. Alai Muruga spoke to the girl over the phone for hours on Thursday night and went to bed. He did not emerge from his room on Friday morning. The parents broke open the door only to see him hanging from the ceiling fan, said the police.

Shobha (23) took her life by consuming poison in Vijayanagar. According to police, she consumed poison near a park and collapsed in front of a hotel. A few people shifted her to a hospital where she died. The reason for her extreme step is yet to be ascertained.
