In a press release, Karnataka Dalit Panthers (KDP) has condemned the move of the State Government to transfer Mysore Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta to Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan.

Taking exception to the transfer, KDP has termed the sudden transfer as unnecessary and without reason.

Having assumed charge as deputy commissioner of Mysore on June 4, 2010, KDP said that the former had reclaimed hundreds of acres of land belonging to the government. KDP has said that Gupta was a target of the land mafia.

Honest efforts

KDP said that honest efforts by Gupta to ensure conduct of a successful Dasara and to keep politicians away was also a reason for his transfer. KDP has requested re-instatement of Gupta as Deputy Commissioner of Mysore.

Odanadi reacts

Odanadi Seva Samsthe has raised doubts over the sudden transfer of Harsh Gupta, who was known to be a honest officer and had brought about transparency in the implementation of government schemes.

Odanadi has said that Gupta had worked for the overall development of chid welfare and implementation of JnNURM projects.

Odanadi has urged the government to reconsider Gupta’s transfer to Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan. Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Autorickshaw Drivers and Owners Association has slammed the move of the government to transfer Deputy Commissioner Harsh Gupta. Terming Gupta as the only honest deputy commissioner, the association stated that Gupta had reclaimed government land and also tried to put a stop to real estate agents.

With Gupta’s transfer, the corrupt, landgrabbers, real estate agents can now have a free hand, the association said.

The government’s move to transfer was taken after Gupta had prepared a report of 1000 acres of land belonging to government, which had been taken over by real estate agents.

The association demanded the Chief Minister to reinstate Gupta as deputy commissioner of Mysore.
