The programme, which is aimed at bridging the gap between leaders and workers, will also see the party highlighting its achievements and the BJP government’s “failures”.

KPCC president G Parameshwara, who released a booklet with the same name as the programme on Monday, said that the two-month campaign would have all the legislators and senior leaders participating. A team led by legislator Kagodu Thimmappa has been constituted to oversee the activities. Each legislator has been entrusted a block and he will have to interact with the grassroots level leaders for at least two hours.

The programme will be taken up in all the 46,666 booths and 5,205 wards. A 10-member team has been constituted for each booth, where the focus will be on women and those from backward communities.

BJP ridicules Cong drive

BJP spokesperson Ayanur Manjunath on Monday ridiculed the State Congress leaders’ plan to tour villages, saying the party high command was so fed up with the State leaders repeatedly visiting Delhi that it had made them tour rural areas of the State.

Addressing reporters, he said the Congress’ tour programme would help leaders like Siddaramaiah understand development works taken up by the State government better. The party leaders used to talk about rural development sitting in Bangalore. The tour programme will do them good, he added.
