DSS seeks action against seer

Last Updated 14 June 2011, 15:49 IST

Speaking on the occasion, DSS State Coordinating Convener Prakash Byadarhalli demanded immediate action against the seer for issuing unconstitutional statements.

The seer should  stop politicizing the issue concerning as many as 2000 Dalits he said in Udupi on May 24. Calling the incident as conversion drama, the seer has been involved in criticising the decision of Daliths to embrace Buddhism, he added.

Buddhism is not a fraction of Hinduism as claimed by the seer. There is huge difference between the principles of Hinduism and Buddhism. Since time immemorial Daliths were never concerned with or a part of Hinduism. Buddhism preaches equality and harmony in contrast to Hinduism which is the replica of Brahmanism ideologies. Hinduism is the religion that was created under the interest of saints and seers, he criticised. He informed that there are as many as 6,700 cases filed in the State under Dalith Atrocity Act. Unfortunately no action has been taken against the accused and the law has been misinterpreted, he alleged. Threatening that the DSS will go for statewide rigorous protest, he asked the Pejawar seer to repent and apologise in public.
