Addressing a news conference on Monday, Ravi said that Technical expert Nataraj will be heading the Committee and based on the report filed by them, next action will be planned.

“As per the opinion collected from the residents of IG Road and as per my own view, quality work has been executed at IG Road and the opposition is unnecessarily making disparaging remarks. There is no question of saving the contractors if substandard work has been executed. The Congress and JD(S) leaders are making comments for publicity,” said Ravi.

The Committee will have Engineers. Nataraj has been appointed as the chief of the Committee after discussing with the opposition. In case the Committee confirms sub standard work then both the Engineers and the contractors will not be spared.

“The IG Road works are being carried on as per the NH guidelines. There is no compromise in this regard. The drains will be laid by July end. Asphaltation works will be started soon,” he said.

CMC refutes

Meanwhile, City Municipal Council President D K Ninge Gowda refuting all the allegations said that no compromise has been made in IG road development work.

“The drainage and road work for IG Road has been taken up under CM’s Small and Medium Town Development Programme. There is no scope for substandard work here as the works are inspected by third party,” he said.

Cleanliness

Apart from this, with the view of maintaining cleanliness in the city, the council has got 60 workers on contract basis from Akhila Bharathiya Vivek Vihaar Colony, Bihar, to replace the local Paurakarmikas.

No culling

The Council has decided to capture and release the stray dogs and pigs in the city to the outskirts, instead of culling them. In this regard, 937 dogs and 243 pigs have been released in the city outskirts.
