Security guard's murder shrouded in mystery

Incident occurred at Koorgalli on the outskirts of Mysore

The deceased has been identified as Manoj, a security guard deployed at a private factory in nearby industrial area. He was a native of Mamballi village in Chamarajanagar district. He was living in a rented room, along with his colleague Mithun.

When Mithun returned after finishing his night shift, he was shocked to see Manoj bludgeoned to death.A huge boulder with blood stains was found outside the room.

According to police, Manoj had contacted Mithun over phone to complain that Mahadevappa was packing the uniforms into a bag. Mahadevappa had quit the security agency recently and had returned only on Tuesday night. Mithun had taken Mahadevappa to task at that time for picking the uniforms belonging to him (Manoj). What transpired later among the duo, is yet to be ascertained.

Investigators say, Manoj’s cellphone is missing from the spot. Though the needle of suspicion points at Mahadevappa, the truth will emerge only when he comes under police net.

The police are also investigating into the private life of Manoj, who is believed to be in relation with a woman. Vijayanagar Police have registered a case.

Police kins robbed

Miscreants have yanked off a gold chain weighing 40 grams from a police personnel attached to Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP) force in the city on Wednesday. Shankarnarayan was riding the motorcycle with his wife on pillion seat, when the two bike-borne youths struck the couple. Nazarbad Police are investigating.

In another case, Chandralekha a resident of ‘I’ block, J P Nagar lost her gold chain weighing 56 grams. She was riding home after visiting a temple, when two bike-borne miscreants sped away after snatching her chain.Vidyaranyapuram Police have registered a case.

In yet another incident, Hemavathi Bhat of Lakshmikantnagar was relieved of her gold chain weighing 31 grams. The miscreants approached her on the pretext of asking for the availability of cows nearby.Vijayanagar Police have registered a case.

A woman was relieved of her gold valuables on the pretext of offering a lift in Kuvempunagar Police limits on Wednesday. Bharathi, a retired teacher and resident of Kuvempunagar is the victim. Her son-in-law is a policeman attached to CAR. She was walking towards the revenue office to pay water bill, when a car stopped in front of her.
Two youths who introduced themselves as her students in school, offered a lift. Bharathi who believed in them, got into the vehicle only to meet be duped. They allegedly took her to Dattagalli on the outskirts and robbed her of her gold chain weighing 96 grams and two gold chains. Kuvempunagar Police have registered a case.

Two die

Two people of a four member family who had suffered burns in a freak mishap, have succumbed to injuries. Ganesh (28) succumbed on Wednesday, while his son Durga (6) breathed his last on Tuesday. Ganesh, his wife Jayanthi, son Durga and daughter Mahadevi had suffered burns at their house recently.
