The Corporations which takes up works to sink borewells spending huge amount of money has failed to remit the necessary deposit to enable the Chescom to give power connections to the borewells.

Delay

While the corporations are delaying to pay the fixed amount, the Chescom officials are adamant that there will not be any power supply until the amount is remitted.

Hence, the main objective of sinking borwells has failed, thanks to the negligence of the authorities concerned and it is the beneficiaries who are left high and dry.

The issue was taken up in the district-level progress review meeting earlier, and the authorities were directed to give power connections to the borewells, but in vain.

According to reliable sources, more than hundred borwells installed by Dr B R Ambedkar Development Corporation and 41 borewells sunk by Devaraj Urs Backward community Corporation, 17 borewells of Minority community development corporation are lying defunct due to no power connection.

Out of 197 borwells sunk by Ambedkar Development Corporations only 47 borwells have got power connections by May 2011.

When this was discussed at the district-level KDP meeting held on March 11, ZP CEO had directed to take steps to give power connections to the borewells even under Ganga Kalyan Project.

The issue was again taken up at a meeting held on June 13, where the officials of the depart ment and Corporation discussed on who is entitled to provide power connections.
The ZP CEO had again directed to provide power connections to the borwells and solve the drinking water woes of the district, which has raised a ray of hope among the people who believe that the problem would be sorted out by the next meeting.
