District admn prepares for Olympic Day run

Over 1,000 expected to participate in the event on June 23

June 23 is observed as Olympic Day world over to commemorate the beginning of the games.  The state also celebrates this day in different districts every year. This year the border districts have got the chance to host the event.

The run will start at 8 am in front of the Chamarajeshwara Temple.  It goes through B Rachaiah Double road and will reach the double road via Ambedkar Circle. It will then pass through the court road and will end near the Government Guest house.

 Students of schools and colleges, senior athletes, sports enthusiasts, representatives of various clubs and association and officials are expected to take part in the run. More than one thousand people are expected to take part in the Olympic Day run. The participants will be provided t-shirts, water, juice, fruits and food. They will also get a certificate from the Olympic association.

Talking at the meeting the deputy commissioner said that the district had got the opportunity to host the Olympic Day celebration and all officials were responsible for its success.  

He asked the District Public education department and the Pre university board to take necessary steps to make the students take part in the run. He also asked them to prepare a list of students and teachers who will be participating in the run.  

The DC said that  quality t-shirts should be provided to all participants and leaders who attend the run.

Water should be provided at spots all through the route of the run. Food and fruits should be provided at the Government guest house premises. He also asked the officials to arrange for ambulance and medical facilities for the run.

He asked the official to make sure there would be no vehicular movement on the route of the run and parking facility to be made at the government guest house premises only. He urged the town people to take part in the run.

District Public Education Department deputy director  B A Rajashekar, Pre-university board  deputy director Cheluvayya, Jagadish, City Municipal commissioner B Krishnappa, senior Zilla Panchayat member Siddalingaswamy, Youth services and sports department assistant director Ramesh were present at the meeting.
