Talented striker Lokeshwar Singh and central defender Shiyad A S slotted home a brace each while Suraj Singh struck one as the Sappers romped to a thumping 5-0 victory at the Bangalore Football stadium.

Having scored 11 goals and not conceded one in their two matches so far, MEG were expected to pick up a routine victory over the youthful and inexperienced SAI but little did they imagine it would be a walk in the park. In control of the contest from kick-off to the final whistle, the Sappers ran rings around SAI, who sadly offered nothing more than a token resistance.

Hardly taking any time to settle down, the Sappers hit top gear within seconds from the kick-off, creating as many as three chances within the opening two minutes. Struggling to find a foothold against a relentless early assault, SAI conceded a penalty in the sixth minute when Sreedhar brought down Ramu inside the box. Lokeshwar stepped up a minute a later and slammed in past goalkeeper Jayanth to trigger the goal fest.

Two minutes later, Lokeshwar relayed a cross into the box where Suraj cashed in on a woeful piece of defending to tap the ball home. Shiyad then fired a brace with both goals coming from free-kicks. In the 25th minute the strapping defender thundered a ball from 30 yards into the net before being gifted the second when custodian Jayanth fumbled with a straight-forward attempt in the 42nd minute.

Lokeshwar then completed the demolition job with a crafty goal in the 69th minute.
Substitute Akosh RC whipped a decent cross from the right which SAI custodian Jayanth completely missed while attempting to glove it. Lokeshwer, who almost overran the ball, showed good footwork, backheeling the ball into the open net from point blank.

Results: A Division: Government Press: 2 (Kupparaj 64th, Prem Kumar 90+) bt AGORC: 1 (Leo 34th).
