Last Updated 20 June 2011, 17:31 IST

A leopard is learnt to have been spotted near a farm in Hebbal Industrial Area (HIA) on the outskirts of the city, on Monday.

According to sources in the forest department, pug marks were noticed near the farm (survey number 544/1) belonging to Ramachandra.

However, it’s not for the first time, the leopard is noticed at the particular spot. The farm owner had informed about spotting the big cat umpteen number of times and a cage had been kept in front of the farm 20 days ago.

Recently too when the city had received heavy rains, the locals had seen the leopard moving around. However, the officer denied that three leopards were on prowl in that area alone.

Now, the forest department is planning to trap the animal by keeping decoy dog inside the cage.

Recently, a resident nearby Sewage Farm in Vidyaranyapuram had spotted a leopard, close on the heels of wild jumbo menace that claimed a life in the city.
