Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Alok Kumar, who is leading the investigating team, told Deccan Herald that there could be one or two key persons behind the episode. “We are verifying facts and analysing statements made by suspects. The probe is on the right track,” he said.

Alok Kumar and DCP (Crime) DM Krishnam Raju visited Chikkaballapur on Thursday to inspect the spot near Agalagurki village where the bodies were found.

“We wanted to ascertain why the suspects chose this particular place to throw the bodies.
The choice of the place could be by chance or driven by a motive. We are interrogating the suspects,” Alok Kumar added.

‘No terror links’

On Karnataka Forum Dignity’s (KFD) alleged links with terror outfits, Alok Kumar said: “KFD has been under the scanner for some time now. There are allegations that KFD has links with a few terror outfits, but so far there is no concrete and substantial evidence to prove it.

The two students were murdered purely for ransom. There is no communal or terror link to the incident.”
