Love in transition

Being a debut foray, adman Jayendra has trodden the familiar path of cupid caper. Ensuring he strikes two birds in one stone, his fare is bilingual — Tamil and Telugu.

However, Jayendra’s formulaic rom-com fails to strike convincing chord with viewers, for, the story is as old as hills, (shades of Jab We Met) with slight tinkering here and there. The script is equally taxing, rolling like a stone that gathers no moss.

Despite the return of Siddharth to screen in a twin avatar, Jayendra’s 180, sadly strikes no geometric equation with first day, first show fans. Infusing an element of mystery into the mushy drama, Jayendra’s 180 revolves around Siddharth who seeks anonymity but is dogged by an inquisitive and impulsive carefree lass besotted by him and who travels with him to America.

It is here we discover what ails the man and his seeking refuge in anonymity and antipathy towards humanity. Shot on location in Hyderabad, Chennai, Malaysia, Sacramento and San Francisco, the film is more of a tourist delight than a regular entertainer. Of course, it has the gloss, given that Jayendra is an adman.
