Foreign student caught copying

A fourth semester girl student of Linguistics Science had video recorded answers of some of the questions on her iPad. She was caught at the Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies in Manasagangotri.

The other students raised a hue and cry and forced the institute director to check the memory of the device. The contents were found to be answers of some of the questions in the exam. When the matter was brought to the notice of the university’s Registrar (evaluation), B Ramu, he rushed to the spot and seized the iPad and related devices.

When contacted by Deccan Herald, the registrar confirmed the incident, but denied that the question paper was leaked to the particular student. The student has been debarred.

The incident casts aspersions on the system followed during the exams. Earlier, flying squads were deployed to check such attempts. But, such incidents have now become common, alleged a person preferring anonymity.
