Bonded labourers rescued

Rani (55), her son Kumar (37), daughter Neela (35), son-in-law, Swami Kannan (40) and grand children Lata (18), Rajan (11) and Netra (10), of Nadupatti village in Salem district of Tamil Nadu are the labourers.

They started working at the quarrying units owned by  Jagannath in Thoppanahalli and Krishna of Hallikere, after taking an advance payment of Rs 70,000, three years ago.

It is said that Kumar had his  hands and legs tied. He was  confined in a house at Thoppanahalli.
