Mahesh (29), the brick thrower, has in the past complained to the district police that his research into some unspecified subject had been stolen by unidentified persons using satellites in outer space.

The brick-throwing occurred when Shivanna was driving home in his car at Rangapura on the outskirts of the City.

Mahesh has been arrested, said Superintendent of Police T R Suresh. According to him, Mahesh had come to his office with his demands 10 days ago. Besides, he was pestering the legislator with his prime ministerial ambition, Suresh added. The police initially said Mahesh was mentally unbalanced.

MLA Shivanna received first aid treatment at the government hospital. “Nothing much. It was only minor injury due to broken glass of the car. I don’t see any conspiracy behind it,” Shivanna told mediapersons.

The MLA initially told the police that he did not know Mahesh and that his attacker could be mentally challenged. He preferred not to file a complaint. Later, however, he changed his version, and said the incident could have been due to “old grudge”.
Suresh said police would investigate “from all angles”.
