The 13-year-old Sherbini defeated fourth seeded Tayeb 5-11, 11-7, 11-6, 11-5 to win the title.

In boys’ singles, top seed Egyptian Mohamed El Shorbagy defended the title by beating second seed Ivan Yuven of Malaysia 11-9, 12-10, 11-2.

India’s challenge in the tournament had ended earlier.

Sherbini, trailing by a game, fought back valiantly into the title-clash and bagged the next three games on the trot to wrap up the issue in style.“I just love squash and at home I somehow manage to divide time between studies and the game. My underdog status in the championship helped me to play without any pressure,” Sherbini said after the match. In boys’ final, despite a shaky start Shorbagy got into rhythm soon and did not brake much sweat to beat Yuven. The team events in the tournament will be commencing from Monday.
