An alert has also been sounded along the sensitive west coast, about 350 km here, and senior police officers have been directed to stay at their workplaces, Additional Director General of Police R.K. Datta told reporters.

"Additional force has been deployed at the airport and railway and bus stations," said Bangalore Police Commissioner B.G. Jyothiprakash Mirji.

Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa condemned the Mumbai blasts and said he has called a meeting of senior civil and police officials in Bangalore Thursday to review the security situation in the state.

Bangalore houses major IT firms, both Indian and multinational, large public sector industries, some of them defence related, and the space agency.

The three blasts rocked Mumbai's Dadar, Opera House and Zaveri Bazar localities, killing at least 21 people and injuring over 100.
