City railway station was dotted with armed men, Railway Protection Force (RPF) who would monitor the station round-the-clock at all entry and exit points. Highly placed sources said the security cover was enhanced effective from Thursday morning and the system would be in place for a minimum of two weeks. “After that, depending on the need, the authorities will decide to either continue or withdraw this cover,” an official said.

The famous Amba Vilas Palace, which has visitors all through the year, saw reduced number of visitors on Thursday owing to terror attacks. An amateur photographer, on condition of anonymity, said though a lot of westerners had arrived in good numbers till yesterday, had reduced considerably on Thursday. “This is their season of travel. With state being on high alert, and with the anticipation of tourism spots being targeted, they prefer to play it safe,” he said.

Sandra Jones, a mother of two, was among the very few foreign visitors who made it to the palace on Thursday morning. When asked if she was aware of the terror attack, Sandra was taken aback. “Jesus! I didn’t know about it. Well, but I wouldn’t be scared. India is a nice country and I am sure Mumbai is quite a distance away, isn’t it? It would be criminal to waste such wonderful day indoors,” she said while she smiled and hurriedly walked into the palace.

At various parts in the city, four platoons each of mounted police, Karnataka State Reserve Police and City Armed Reserve have been deployed for enhanced security.
