Addressing a news conference on Thursday, Pradeep responded to the statement of BJP spokesperson Manu Muthappa who had ridiculed Congress nadige as last walk of Congress.

“Success of the nadige and Samsadara Angala is making the BJP leaders make such funny comments,’ said Pradeep rejecting the statement that MP H Vishwanath had not worked for the announcement of Coffee package.

“On one hand Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah congratulates Vishwanath for the package and on the other hand Manu Muthappa from the same party attacks Vishwanath saying that he has not worked for it. This shows that there is no clarity and unanimity within the party,” Pradeep opined.

As a response to the allegation that Vishwanath is not working for the constituency, Pradeep questioned as to how many times former MP D V Sadananda Gowda had visited Kodagu during his five year tenure.KPCC Member T P Ramesh said that BJP’s claim that all the projects in the state are being implemented by the state government without any monetary help from the centre is far from truth.

“There are several projects of the centre being implemented in the state. As many as 517 vehicles were provided by the centre when the 108 ambulance scheme was launched in the state. Before making such statements, the CM must look into the documents,” he said adding that despite the centre’s help, the ambulances bear pictures of B S Yeddyurappa and Sriramalu.

With regard to Rajiv Gandhi Rural Electrification Project, Ramesh said that out of 132 works in Somwarpet 93 are under progress, 60 out of 94 works are in progress in Virajpet. But there has been no progress in Madikeri. “The payment has been made to contractors before hand. Now after the works started the contractors have been shown with various shortcomings in execution of work and works have been stopped,” he said.

Corruption

District Congress former vice-president B S Thammaiah said that various corrupt practices are going on in health department. There is a need to hold an inquiry into the same.

He said that a sum of Rs 23 lakh was released to provide additional pay to the employees working in Primary Health Centres catering to the needs of tribal. “This amount has been utilised in Napoklu, where there are no tribal,’ he said adding that another Rs 12.90 lakh released for allowances in remote area has been used in Somwarpet.

Further he said that as many as 471 Gram Nairmalya Samitis have been formed instead of required 292 committees with the sole intention of making money. “Rs 1,735 lakh has been utilised in just one month by the health department,” said Thammaiah.
