A budget meeting had been convened at Goruru travellers bungalow on March 21. Some members expressed their displeasure about discussing accounts of five to six months at one meeting and approving it was not proper.

Some alleged that they had received just a notice about the meeting but not the minutes of the last meeting.

President Shankar tried to defend the long gap between two meetings by stating there were earlier examples of such delay in convening meetings.

Congress councillor Yeshwanth said if the president does not promise to convene monthly meetings regularly and present the accounts, a dharna would be staged.

Support

He was supported by Banagari Manju of the BJP, Shyamsundar, Prasanna and others. Shankar got emotional and resorted to a pledge.

The Goruru meeting came under attack of the opposition members. They took exception for spending Rs 50,000 for non-vegetarian food and Rs 25,000 paid to the vehicle used to ferry journalists.

Approval

They declined to approve the decisions taken at Goruru as they had boycotted that meeting. The opposition members held commissioner Nagabhushan responsible for not preparing an action plan for spending the funds sanctioned by the state government.
