KGF residents' 'road' to victory

The 40-ft road leading to MV Nagar and Bharat Nagar from BEML Nagar on Bangarpet-Betamangala Main Road, will now be upgraded.

The road, in front of the H&P in BEML Nagar was allegedly encroached by some people and was closed for over eight years.

The closing of the road created lot of problems to the residents of MV Nagar and Bharat Nagar, a majority of whom are BEML factory workers. The residents of both areas which have about 1,000 houses, were forced to circumambulate to reach their houses.

However, the residents taking a leaf out of the protest done by Bharat Nagar Housing Co-operative Society, recently, decided to fight for their right. The residents staged a protest under the leadership of City Municipal Council Shivaprasad Naidu.

The protest yielded result when district administration and police department helped residents in taking possession of the road. With the assistance from Zilla Panchayat and Gram Panchayat, the road is now being upgraded.

The road will be opened for public and vehicular movement in two or three days, the residents said.
