JOIN USThe five-day meet has received more than 1100 entries and will have competitions featuring singles and doubles in two categories — under-13 and the newly introduced under-15.
“As far as I know there are only two national-ranking tournaments for sub-juniors. But we need more such meets to unearth talent. I am thankful for the sponsors for coming forward and helping us to conduct the event,” said Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy chairman Prakash Padukone, whose sports management company is organising the tournament.
In the boys and girls singles, the main draw will be 64 with 16 players making the grade after the qualifying rounds while in doubles the draw will be of 32, including eight qualifiers. The qualifying rounds are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday. The tournament will have a total prize money of Rs 2 lakh with the champions in the under-15 boys and girls categories receiving Rs 20,000 and Rs 12,000 respectively.
