SP, DC will take decision on entry of tourists at Harangi

Speaking to presspersons at Harangi guest house on Tuesday, he said in the backdrop of terror threat, the entry of tourists has been banned. After the arrest of Nazeer, a terror suspect in Kodagu, the district administration had banned the entry of tourists to the Harangi reservoir.

The superintendent of police will take a decision on entry of tourists after reviewing the security measures.

District-in-Charge Minister C H Vijayashankar said “there is garden and musical fountain at KRS for the tourists. However, in Harangi there are no such attractions. Further many tourists walk on the reservoir which is dangerous.” Zilla Panchayat member Bharathish said farmers who lost their land to the reservoir have been rehabilitated. However, they are facing problems with regard to lack of basic facilities. The work on reservoir road is half complete, which must be completed at the earliest. The Minister directed Cauvery Irrigation Board officer to repair the road. The work on Chiklihole road should be started at the earliest, he said.

Later the Minister visited Harangi Primary School and Basavanahalli Morarji School and launched “Maguvigondu mara shaalegondu vana’ scheme by distributing saplings to the students.
