While Mahabodhi defeated Sadvidya school by 64 runs, Baden Powell overcame St Joseph’s State School by 31 runs in the matches held at Maharaja’s college grounds.

In the first match of the day, Taquee-Ur-Rahman of Baden Powell rattled St Joseph’s with a quickfire 42 off just 16 balls. A solid fifth wicket partnership of 34 runs between Taquee-Ur-Rahman and Nagarajun ensured that Baden Powell made their way to scoring 100 runs. However, quick fall of wickets caused Baden Powell to be bowled out for 126 with more than two overs to spare.

Suman R of St Joseph’s impressed with a five-wicket haul, while Nitin Nayak grabbed two wickets for 15 runs.

Faced with a meagre total of only 127, St Joseph’s lost wickets at regular intervals and were bowled out for 95 runs with nine overs remaining.

Nitin Nayak, who remained not out with a score of 33 runs, was a mute spectator, as his team-mates crumbled to the powerful bowling attack of Baden Powell.

Kaushik R excelled for the bowling side by grabbing two wickets. He also produced four maiden overs in his six over spell. Ismail grabbed three wickets, while Nagarjun and Kishore Kumar scalped two wickets each.

Second semi-final

In the second semi-final, Mahabodhi won the toss and elected to bat against Sadvidya school.

They posted an impressive 165 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 30 overs. Pabalo of Mahabodhi missed out a half-century by one run. While his team-mates Kamal and Vinay contributed 21 runs each, captain Sathako scored 27 runs.

For Sadvidya, Harshith took three wickets, Sourabh and Rajesh bagged two wickets each.

In the second innings, Sadvidya faltered with none of the batsmen sticking at the wicket. Apart from the 28 runs scored by Sourabh, the remaining players were unimpressive. Adding to their woes were the regular run-outs caused due to lack of understanding between the players.

Bowling for Mahabodhi, Haro bowled two maiden overs, captured two wickets and gave away only 18 runs for six overs. Vinay took two wickets by giving away only 15 runs.
