Setback for C'magalur ZP action plan

Meeting yet to take place due to rift between Cong, JD(S)

Following this, the development projects of the district have witnessed a setback. “By this time every year, the action plan was sent to the government. But the differences of opinion between the Congress and JD(S) members, the Finance Standing Committee meeting itself has not been conducted.

The district’s progress has slid to two months’ back,” said sources in the Zilla Panchayat. Of the seven members in the Finance, Accounts and Planning Standing Committee, four are from Congress and the rest three are from the JD(S).  The lack of coordination between the two parties is said to be the reason for not conducting the meeting. As the action plan has not been approved in time, a total of 178 projects with a budget of Rs 114.48 crore have witnessed a setback. They include 112 programmes to be implemented through the Zilla Panchayat, the sources informed. All action plans coming under the ZP should have been approved within July 15. But the meeting scheduled to be held on June 19 did not take place due to lack of quorum.

Officials postponed meetings on June 23, June 29 and June 30. However, the meeting could not be conducted.
