Dog day delirium

Last Updated 05 August 2011, 17:58 IST

Kollywood, lately, has been swearing by the temple town of Madurai to rake in money at the movie marquee. And joining this bogie of films hitching onto Madurai moolah town is Bondinayakanur Ganesan.

As if the title itself was not off-putting, BG’s plot borders on the ludicrous. Revolving around a despot Thiruvaachi and his Man Friday Ganesan, the film spotlights on how the master takes vicarious pleasure in putting into all kinds of misery his menial who is epitome of servility.

What has come to such a sorry pass for Ganesan, once a brilliant student, saddled with a differently-abled brother Kottaiyan to boot, that he does every bidding of Thiruvaachi is another twisty, tortuous tale. Likewise, how does Ganesan gather spirit to turn the screws back on his tormentor, as also how cupid strikes him, forms the rest of the stupefying saga.
While it is whistles and watlz time for B&C audiences, for the rest though, BG is simply one big blistering ticket to boredom. Stay away.
