Last Updated 10 May 2009, 17:49 IST

Like every year, students who bagged highest marks, prefer to pursue Science subjects, says Vocational Education Department deputy director B V Saroja. While 33 colleges in the district have PUC Sciences division, 32 have Commerce subjects.

Meanwhile, demand for Arts subjects is more in rural areas. Most of the colleges in rural areas have PUC Arts faculty.

The widened scope of MBA courses led to an increase in the demand for PUC Commerce syllabus. Though there was a time when most of the PU Commerce colleges were on the verge closure. But when students started dreaming of prosperity through MBA course, the demand for PU Commerce subjects too has increased. Similarly, parents too were not interested in sending their children to Software technology, in the wake of recesion.
