The Hoysaleshwara temple, which is one of the main tourist spots of the district which is attracting hundreds of visitors every day, does not have adequate security staff. Due to this the tourists who fail to value the rich sculptures end up damaging the temple. Though repair work was launched at an estimated cost of Rs 60 lakh at the temple, the department of archaeology has not rectified the damage caused to the temple.

Even after the completion of the work, wires remain suspended marring the beauty of the temple. Though the wires are not live, the tourists are shocked over the poor maintenance and have to walk with fear. The pipes too are found hanging loose. As some bit of work is in progress the power supply to the temple has been affected. With the temple remaining dark most of the time, it has become a breeding place for bats.

A local employee says that some of the sculptures are in a dilapidated state and some are affected by fungus. The department of archaeology has not taken any steps to rectify this.
The department has also failed to appoint a supervisor for the temple after the transfer of the previous official. He also opined that an officer from Srirangapatna has been given additional in-charge but it would be better if a local person is given charge.

As the motor of the pump set has not been repaired even after several reminders, the tourists are put into a lot of hardship, as there is no water in the toilets.

There is also drinking water problem at the temple premises and the steps taken by the gram panchayat to provide drinking water was not accepted by the authorities concerned. If the departments concerned fail to pull up their socks to provide basic amenities at the popular tourist place, the tourist inflow is surely to be affected.
