Journalists told to present facts boldly

He was speaking at the Journalism Day organised jointly under the District Working Journalists Association and Information Department in Chikkaballapur. Journalism is a very strong field where one can change the views of the entire world and can bring in change in the society, he added.

He regretted that recently some media have failed to keep up the ethics of Journalism and  are indulging in yellow journalism. The Minister assured of providing funds from his fund for the construction of Patrakarthara Bhavana which is proposed to come up at the district centre.

Nirmalananda Swamiji of Adichuchanagiri branch Mutt said that the Journalists should work efficiently and honestly as they are the the fourth estate. He also asked the budding journalists to write articles after deep research which should be socially responsible and also attend workshops to sharpen their journalistic skills.

DC Anwar Pasha assured of providing site for the Patrakarthara Bhavana which is proposed to be constructed at the district centre. MLA Y Sampangi who spoke on the occasion promised to provide Rs 10 lakh for the Patrakarthara Bhavana. Shidlaghatta MLA and former Minister V Muniyappa asked the journalists to fight for their rights unitedly.

Working Journalists’ Association State Unit president Sudheer said that Journalists are responsible for the readers, hence write articles which are socially responsible.

Working Journalists’ Association district Unit president K N Gopalachar asked the government to provide facilities for journalists. Zilla Panchayat president Vinutha Srinivas also spoke. Zilla Panchayat Vice-President Chenduru Venkatesh, taluk panchayat former vice president K R Reddy, special officer to District In-charge Minister Ananthu, Assistant Commissioner G V Seenappa and others were also present. Senior journalists from six taluks of the district and artiste Anajana Murthy were felicitated. Information Officer C M Ranga Reddy, Vice president of the Journalists Association R Venkatesh, Secretary So Su Nagendranath and others were also present.
