In the service of fellow students

Union Installation

The union members took oath in front of the faculty members and other students to execute their duties to the best of their ability.

The occasion was marked by the white dress code followed by the office-bearers and students leaders. The programme began with the prayer ‘Call to Worship’ by the college choir.

Raichel S Raynold, from third year BBM, was unanimously selected as the president of the Baldwin Women’s College Organisation for the current academic year and she was presented before the students by the principal of the college, who also installed her as the president by draping the sashes and pinning the badges.

Raichel spoke on the occasion and thanked the people responsible for her selection. She promised to do her best to keep the Baldwin flag flying high.  Then Raichel introduced the other office-bearers of the union like the vice president Divya Mammen; Sonali Das Gupta, the secretary; and the class prefects. Office-bearers of the college clubs were also installed on the occasion.

The Rotaract Club, NSS, Management Club and Communique Club also got their new presidents and members. “I was overwhelmed by my selection and I feel it’s a huge responsibility. Once I was installed I felt that I had to bring out the hidden
qualities in me so that I’m able to give my best,” said Francesca, the president of Communique Club.

“Since the oath is taken in the presence of fellow students, the leaders are determined to be the good coordinators. The service of commitments reminds these leaders to be like a candle which spreads light around and guide the path of others. The greatest leader is the person who knows how to serve others. So, I expect these students to be humble, willing to go an extra mile, unaffected by both praise and criticism and be focussed on their goals,” said Professor Lily N David, in her message to the union leaders.
