As a part of nationwide protest, CPI (M), JD(S) and CPI jointly organised protest before clock tower here at Service Bus stop on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, JD(S) District President Deviprasad Shetty alleged that both Central and State governments are corrupt.

He demanded that Lokpal Bill should be introduced following the directions of civil society. Prime Minister should be brought under the ambit of the Bill. Central government is least concerned about the lay man and has failed to adopt people-friendly measures. Central government is trying to free itself from the clutches of corruption allegations. However, it is known fact by now that Central government has its vast part of share in ongoing corruption activities in the country, he added.

He alleged it is highly deplorable to declare that state government is the worst ever corrupt government in the history of Karnataka. Nepotism and selfishness is the trade mark of the state government. Public in state are experiencing rare events of their ministers going to jails on the corruption charges, he ridiculed and insisted both governments to adopt corrupt free measures in the governance, he said.

CPI (M) District Secretary K Shankar informed that the nationwide protest by Left parties supported by other political parties is organised to safeguard the interests of democracy which is in danger. People across the country should come forward to support the anti corruption crusade. Anna Hazare should be supported for his fight against corruption.
The country is undergoing the heat of the freedom struggle of yesteryears once again.
However, the freedom we got 65 years before only assured us political freedom and not economical freedom. Although it is not possible to eradicate corruption entirely, public should start extensive campaign against corruption to bring changes in the country.

District BJP Yuva Morcha held a bike rally from Byndoor to Hejamadi supporting Anna Hazare demanding corruption-free society.  As many as 150 to 200 bikes took part in the rally. About 250 people participated.
