Some dissenting voices raised

Last Updated 23 August 2011, 18:11 IST

Artist K T Shivaprasad, who participated in the sit-in protest, said Indian law upheld the protection of one innocent, even if a hundred guilty escaped punishment. But it would not be the same if the Jan Lokpal Bill was implemented, he observed.

He, however, said: “We are not against curbing corruption, but we oppose Jan Lokpal Bill.”
Alleging that Anna’s fast was castiest, Shivaprasad said the protest was a conspiracy by Brahmins to impose ‘manuvaad’.  He alleged Kiran Bedi and Arvind Kejriwal had been running non-governmental organisations which received funds from the US and other nations. “They must declare these funds,” he said.
