Soon after the party’s youth icon Rahul Gandhi spoke about Hazare’s stir in Lok Sabha amid noisy interruptions by the Opposition, its GenNext ministers and MPs like Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sandeep Dikshit, Milind Deora, Sachin Pilot, Ajay Maken, Jitin Prasada and Meenakshi Natarajan staged a ‘dharna’ near the statue of Mahatma Gandhi.

They were protesting against disruptions by the BJP and other opposition parties, which stopped Dikshit from initiating a discussion on the Lokpal bill. “Why didn’t the BJP MPs allow the debate on Lokpal bill, when their leaders keep on saying that they are concerned over the health of Hazare?” wondered Natarajan, known to be a close aide of Rahul Gandhi.

Prasada said that the government’s sincerity to fight against the menace of corruption had been reflected in the proposal put forward by Rahul that the proposed Lokpal could also be a constitutional body like the Election Commission of India and not just a statutory body.

The Minister of State (Independent Charge) Sports and Youth Affairs Ajay Maken said that the BJP had multiple faces. “They show one face in all-party meet, another to Team Anna when they promise support to them and yet another in Parliament,” he said.
