Chided by father, girl ends life

Renuka, 20, a resident of Saraswathipura and a student of KLE Law College in Rajajinagar, hanged herself to death on Sunday night allegedly after her parents reprimanded her for having an affair with a boy.

Renuka used to attend tuition classes in Malleswaram when she was in second year PUC. There she met a boy and fell in love with him.  Her father, Venkataram, a government employee, scolded her on Sunday night for continuing her friendship with the boy, and took away her cellphone.

An upset Renuka went into her room and hanged herself. The parents grew suspicious when she did not open the door. They broke open the door and were shocked to see Renuka hanging from a ceiling fan.

In a death note, the victim has stated: “I was in love with a boy for the past few years. My father opposed our love affair. He took the opposite stand in all my aspirations. Hence, I am committing suicide.”

The victim also stated that she loved her father and he loved her too. In another incident, a 14 year-old student of a private school in Jnanabharathi police limits, R Chaitra, hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her room. She was studying in Class VIII.

Chaitra took the extreme step after she was allegedly scolded by her mother Mangala for talking to a boy.

Girl falls into sump, dies
A five-year-old girl died after she fell into a sump in Rajanukunte on the City outskirts on Sunday night.

Police gave the name of the dead as Veda, a nursery student at Jyothi Vidyalaya in Hesaraghatta. She was the only child of Manjunath, a farmer, and Hema.

According to police, Manjunath and Hema stayed at Chellahalli. The couple’s neighbours were collecting water from a public tap to fill a sump in the compound of their house.
When the power went off around 8.30 pm, Vidya went to the neighbour’s house. She failed to notice the sump and fell into it, police said.

When the power was restored minutes later, Veda’s parents started searching for her. They grew suspicious and looked into the sump only to find Veda dead. They rushed her to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her brought dead.

Two drown in Arkavathi
Two youths drowned in the backwaters of Arkavathi at Tavarekere on Monday morning. The incident occurred when Sadique (26) and Nayaz (28) were collecting water in containers.

A man from Chandra Layout in Bangalore went for fishing in the backwaters of Arkavathi. Sadique got into the river to collect water in a container for drinking, while four others were preparing to have their food. Sadique lost his balance and began drowning. Nayaz, who rushed to his rescue, also met a watery grave.

Sadique’s body was retrieved and efforts are on to trace Nayaz’ body, police said.

Student killed, friend hurt
A student was killed and his friend sustained injuries in an accident at Banaswadi on Sunday night.

Mahendra, 22, a third year student of BE (Mechanical) at Siddartha College of Engineering and Technology in Kempapur, and his friend Sriraj Tejas, 22, were returning home when the accident occurred on Nagawara Ring Road.

Mahendra was declared brought dead and Sriraj Tejas has been admitted to a hospital. Both were from Nellur in Andhra Pradesh and stayed at Peenya Dasarahalli.
