The event ‘Michael Jackson lives on’ is the third season of the ‘Tribute to Michael Jackson’ series. This year on the second birth anniversary of the late popstar, a number of fans flocked to Garuda Mall to be a part of the celebrations.

It kicked off with a performance by the winner of the online ‘Tribute to Michael Jackson’ dance contest, Hariprasad, who came all the way from Chennai to be a part of the event. He said, “I am not a professional dancer, but seeing Michael Jackson and his performances, I learnt dance myself. He is so much more than just a music legend, he is god for people like me. Even though he is gone, events like this are a good way to get fans together and relive what he left behind.”

After his performance, other participants came forward to sing and dance to Michael Jackson’s popular hits. Many lookalike dancers performed to hits like ‘Dangerous’ and ‘Thriller’ as the lively crowd cheered them on. The dancers performed perfectly and showed off the signature ‘moonwalk’ step that was synonymous with the legend’s performances.

The dancers even went on to invite members of the audience to join them in a ‘moonwalk’ workshop where they taught the enthusiastic people a thing or two about the dance step. Some even managed to pull it off with a bit of tutoring. Linda James from the audience said, “I am a huge fan of Michael Jackson and this event has been so much fun. I could start dancing to his tracks any minute as I love his music so much. I do not think anyone can ever forget him, he will always live on in his music.”

A huge chocolate cake with a picture of Michael Jackson as icing on it was brought in for everyone. The cake was cut by Hariprasad and distributed to everyone present. A quiz based on Michael Jackson was also held. The fans answered tricky trivia questions on the legend and won many prizes.

Mansoor Ahmed, CEO, Desitara said, “We wanted to commemorate Michael Jackson’s work with this series and numerous people have come forward to be a part of this event. Michael Jackson, like Elvis Presley, will live on in our hearts even years or decades after his death.”
