Dhoni watched his favourite player demolish Arsenal with three of United’s eight goals in their EPL match on Sunday here at Old Trafford, and returned a happy man to Leicester where the team was based at that time.
“It was a fantastic game,” Dhoni said here on Tuesday. “In 2007 too, I was here. Arsenal-Man U was a big game and being a Man U fan, 8-2 was something really fantastic. Hopefully, I will see some more games.”
Will that inspire his team to do well? “I don’t think it does. At the end of the day, it is all about cricket and about how you prepare and perform. There is enough inspiration in the side and we don’t have to look outside. Of course, it is good to see other sport, especially since I started out as a footballer,” he remarked.
Dhoni was invited to watch the match from the VIP gallery by a United official but instead preferred to sit in the crowd. Later, he was presented with a jersey signed by United players.
