The main purpose of partnering is to educate developers on the profitable business opportunity they can leverage by developing applications for BlackBerry.
As India is about to touch 550 mobile subscribers mark, BlackBerry platform provides unique opportunities to develop and deploy applications for local as well as global markets, said Mathew. She said among many apps, the super apps offer the most exciting applications since they seamlessly integrate between native as well as third party application. There are, for example, super apps for BlackBerry users that let users find people, businesses, movie theatres, retailers and restaurants near their location. It uses GPS or cell-site locations to pinpoint where user is and quickly deliver the information they need.
RIM is also planning to work with some universities in India to integrate BlackBerry app development as part of the curriculum. RIM also has BBM6 integrated apps like ‘Cricket with Friends’ that allows users to play cricket with BlackBerry Messenger friends.
