2 debt-ridden farmers end lives in Bidar

 
Bhadrappa Sangrama (50) and Tulasiram Rajaba Manaji (65) are the deceased.

Bhadrappa, a resident of Yadalapur owned three acre of land and had borrowed money from private persons for the marriage of his children.

He had also availed Rs 10,000 loan from a bank to grow sugarcane. The crop failed due to scanty rains and he is said to have been deep in debt. He committed suicide by hanging himself from a tree on the village outskirts.

Bhadrappa is survived by a daughter and three sons. A case has been registered at Bidar Rural Police Station.

In one more incident, another farmer,Tulasiram Rajaba Manaji of Vilaspur ended his life by consuming pesticide. He is said to have borrowed heavily and was injured in a road accident.

His hopes on crop dashed as the rains failed and he was unable to meet the expenses for treatment, according to his son. He was shifted to District Hospital where he succumbed during treatment. Janavada police have registered a case.
